The Social Security Administration (SSA) operates five distinct programs aimed at supporting vulnerable populations, including retirees, individuals with disabilities, and low-income groups.
Each program has unique eligibility requirements and follows a precise schedule to ensure benefits are distributed accurately.

Social Security Payment Schedule
To prevent errors and manage the diversity of beneficiaries, the SSA has established a structured payment schedule:
- Beneficiaries Claiming Before May 1997:
Receive payments on the 3rd of each month.
- Beneficiaries Claiming After May 1997:
- Payment date depends on the beneficiary’s birth date:
- 1st–10th: Payments on the second Wednesday of the month.11th–20th:
- Payments on the third Wednesday of the month.21st–31st:
- Payments on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
- SSI Recipients:
Payments are made on the 1st of each month.
November 2024 Payment Schedule
- November 1: SSI beneficiaries received their payment.
- November 3: Pre-May 1997 beneficiaries received their payment.
- November 13: Beneficiaries born on the 1st–10th received their payment.
- November 20: Beneficiaries born on the 11th–20th received their payment.
- November 27: Beneficiaries born on the 21st–31st will receive their payment.
Quirk in November Payments
Due to the calendar layout, SSI beneficiaries will receive a second payment in November. The regular December 1st payment falls on a Sunday, necessitating an earlier distribution on Friday, November 29 (Black Friday). Black Friday is not a federal holiday, allowing banks, postal services, and other systems to remain operational for payments.
