BRENHAM, Texas (KBTX) – Thursday, the Texas high school football playoffs.
Franklin, the only local team to reach Arlington last year, will be returning starting Thursday in the bi-district round.
Among several other teams, Brenham has dreams of playing into late November and December.
The Cubs won the District 10-5A DII championship and closed the regular season 9-1.
Having gone 5-6 last year and been bounced in the first round, it was a significant bounce back season.
Dynamic sophomore running back Jacoby Dixon runs the Cubs.
Under head coach Danny Youngs, they are also in year three and feel they are headed in the correct path.
“Based on physically and through off season and sack camp, I believe we are much tougher than we were last year,” Youngs remarked. “We feature many young boys here. Everyone is asking: Is the increase from last year unique? You know we’re starting 17 underclassmen and the players that have stayed around because they believe in what we are doing; we still haven’t played our best football yet. This is the development inside the entire program.
Texas City is hosted in the bi-district round by Brenham Friday at 7:00 p.m.
