Harriss County, Texas — Tuesday saw a significant advancement in the struggle of a family for justice.
Devan Jordon killed Jeffrey Johnson in his League City residence in June 2021, so he will spend his lifetime behind bars.
Following the killings of Johnson and Joshua Sandoval, Jordon made news for posting bond twice while under two different capital murder accusations.
Aimee Castillo, Sandoval’s sister, sees it as a significant advancement since it establishes a precedent for the other capital murder charge Jordon faces in Sandoval’s death.
Castillo claimed she had to go downtown for a conference for Parents of Murdered Children and Surviving Family Members Tuesday night.
“They have grown to be like a family to me,” Castillo said.

“He was simply 28 and my little brother. Castillo stated, “He hadn’t started living yet, so we were quite eager to see what his future held.”
Jordon, the man detained in relation to Sandoval’s death, belonged to a big criminal network.
Jordon was charged in three distinct counties at one point; two of them related to capital murder. He managed to post bonds for both.
On Tuesday afternoon, a Galveston County jury declared him guilty on one of the capital murder charges for the June 2021 Johnson shooting death in League City.
Sitting with Johnson’s family as the decision was announced was Castillo.
“They simply find great satisfaction in seeing justice done. That justice has been done today makes everyone somewhat delighted. And they also were very in line now, Castillo remarked.
As her family waits for their opportunity in court, she considered the jury’s ruling as a positive direction’s step.
“It will be worth the wait if we could achieve the same result. Castillo added, “I hope he understands that I have never stopped battling for him, tending to him.”
She indicated that they are currently awaiting information regarding the scheduling of their case for presentation before a jury in Harris County.
Jordon has been convicted in the Galveston County case and is set to serve a life sentence in prison, with no possibility of parole.
